Principal's Messsage

Greetings Hook Junior High School Students!!

Welcome to Hook Junior High-- Home to Wrangler Nation!  My name is Carlos Cerna, and I am absolutely humbled and honored to have this opportunity to serve as your new Principal. We are looking forward to a promising new school year as we are working to ensure that a positive educational environment is provided to all students.

Our staff is committed to serving all students in a variety of ways that is guided by our Mission Statement: “To prepare all students for high school and beyond both academically and socially in a safe and fun environment where students want to learn and grow. Providing long lasting memories to enhance their future life and that of others by becoming productive members of our society.”  Our staff continues to plan and organize a variety of academic courses, activities, and programs that will enhance the educational learning environment for all Hook Junior High students.  In addition to teaching Common Core Standards, it is our desire to foster what is best in all of our students to become college and career ready upon graduation from high school, and we are happy to know that students have the capacity to accept the challenge.  In addition to core classes, students have access to various electives including, but not limited to AVID, Spanish, ASB, Action Labs, etc.

What’s new this year?  In our continuing effort to promote the best learning environment for our students, we are excited about our NEW Enhanced Dress Code starting this coming school year. 7th graders and all of our feeder schools were informed last year.  Our NEW Enhanced Dress Code Policy and Power Point can be found on our website as well as here on our campus and district office. We are also extremely excited and thankful for the construction of our NEW Hook Junior High Gym that will be taking place this year! It will be a wonderful facility that our entire campus, community, and district will be proud of.

I encourage all parents and students to review the information found on our website. It contains valuable items regarding school rules, policies, procedures, and important dates and will be updated.  Parents are also encouraged to sign up for Aeries Parent Access to view student academic progress, student attendance, etc. Parents are also encouraged to become actively involved on our campus including, but not limited to School Site Council and various committees.

As we prepare our “students for high school and beyond”, it is important that students also continue to take the necessary steps to help themselves become successful.  Students that make positive choices, remain respectful, responsible, engage and participate in their learning, study well, do their homework, and attend school regularly, not only continue to honor their family, but will also create positive work habits that lead to students becoming college-bound upon graduating from high school.  Each student is at that point where he or she can begin to build a solid educational foundation to prepare them for the next step.  It will take commitment, dedication, and hard-work, but you CAN DO IT!!  We believe! You believe!

I look forward to the upcoming school year as we journey together in preparing our Hook Junior High students for the next level.  Please do not hesitate in contacting me if you have any questions or concerns.

Here’s to an excellent 2020-2021 school year!  Go Wranglers!!

In your service,

Carlos Cerna
